Lotz House - Civil War
In 1855 a German Immigrant, Mr. Lotz completed his house as a master carpenter 3 years after buying his plot of land in Franklin. He built his wood based house to showcase his skills through many different facets. In 1864 when the battle of Franklin happened just outside the home, the Lotz family found shelter in the Carter House across the street in the basement. Each house has its own unique stories, and things to see and experience in person beyond these abbreviated summaries. I am reminded of the children's story about the three pigs. The wolf came to blow the houses down and the one house he couldn't blow down was the brick house. In this case the brick house that stood through the battle was the Carter house directly across the street from the Lotz House. However, after the battle the Lotz family opened their house in the most generous way that made history in Franklin. Today you can still see Mr. Lotz's craftmanship see the decor of the times and hear the history of this historic home.

The Carter House - Civil War
Franklin Factory Tour
Revisit the past of this historic building full of history spanning 96 years+. As you stroll through the halls you will learn of the history of this once industrial building that was transformed into one of Franklin's beloved landmarks to this day. The tour will include stops inside and out, be prepared for rain as is not a season in Tennessee, and weather can change any given time on any day. Tours will happen in rain or shine. Every tour in town is subject to change only in the case of tornado warnings. Stay after the tour to visit shops, eat at restaurants and enjoy The Franklin Factory.
Location: 230 Franklin Rd. Franklin, TN
Parking: There is a free parking lot onsite. Come early for easier parking as this is a popular place at all opened hours.
Hours: 11am most Wednesdays and Fridays. Meet at the Visitor center inside the factory April-October only!
Cost: $8-12 (depending on age)
